Nature Based Therapy
Grounded, outdoor therapy that supports emotional wellbeing, regulation, and connection
Nature Based Therapy offers a calm, supportive alternative to traditional indoor sessions by using the natural environment as part of the therapeutic process.
Being outdoors can help reduce stress, settle the nervous system, and create space for reflection and emotional processing. For many people, walking and talking in nature feels less pressured and more comfortable than sitting in a room, making it easier to engage, regulate, and grow.
Sessions take place in the peaceful bushland of the Lower King area, where the natural surroundings become part of the healing experience.

How Nature Based Therapy Helps
Working in nature can support clients to:
-
Reduce stress and nervous system overload
-
Lower anxiety and emotional intensity
-
Improve mood and emotional balance
-
Build self-esteem and confidence
-
Increase focus and mental clarity
-
Develop coping and regulation skills
-
Strengthen overall emotional wellbeing
Time in natural environments has been shown to support cognitive, emotional, psychological, and physical health, making it a powerful setting for therapeutic work.
What Sessions Feel Like
Nature-Based Therapy sessions are held outdoors year-round in safe, accessible bushland locations.
Sessions are gentle, paced, and flexible. They may include:
-
Walk-and-talk therapy
-
Grounding and mindfulness practices
-
Reflective conversation
-
Sensory awareness activities
-
Goal-focused therapeutic work in a natural setting
Before beginning, we start with a 45-minute consultation where we explore:
-
Your needs and concerns
-
Therapy goals
-
Suitability for nature-based sessions
-
How sessions can be tailored to you or your child
From there, sessions are individually planned and guided by your goals and comfort level.
At Peaceful Paddocks, therapy is always collaborative and relationship-based. You are supported to move at your own pace, with sessions shaped around what feels safe, achievable, and meaningful.
Nature often helps clients feel more relaxed and open, which can support deeper conversations, improved regulation, and stronger therapeutic outcomes.
